Devon L. Wagner, a 26-year-old man from Pittsfield, Illinois, was sentenced after stealing a FedEx truck and leading police on a chase into Marion County, Missouri. In a court hearing on Thursday, Wagner pleaded guilty to two charges: receiving or possessing a stolen vehicle and burglary without causing damage. Each charge carries a five-year sentence, which will be served concurrently.

The incident began on December 12 when a FedEx truck driver left the vehicle running while making a delivery in Quincy, Illinois. The driver reported that Wagner took off in the truck. Deputies attempted to stop Wagner, but he refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit that involved the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement deployed spike strips near Palmyra, Missouri, in an effort to halt the stolen vehicle. Wagner was ultimately apprehended just south of Palmyra, near the intersection of US 61 and US 24. In total, he will receive 84 days credited for time served.

In addition to the charges related to the stolen FedEx truck, Wagner is facing further legal issues in Marion County. He has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing a stop. Notably, he has an outstanding arrest warrant due to his failure to appear for a plea/trial setting hearing scheduled in January.

With these developments, Wagner's legal troubles continue as he grapples with multiple charges stemming from his actions during the truck theft and subsequent pursuit.
