Proposed legislation in Oklahoma aims to honor two women, Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley, by renaming a section of State Highway 95 after them. House Bill 1486 seeks to designate the stretch of highway from Four Corners to two miles north in Texas County as the "Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley Memorial Highway."

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) plans to install permanent markers along this highway to commemorate their names. Butler and Kelley went missing on March 30 while traveling from Kansas to Oklahoma to pick up Butler's children for a birthday celebration.

Tragically, their bodies were discovered on April 14, concealed in a freezer. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance and death have drawn significant attention, highlighting the violence they faced.

In connection with their murders, several individuals, including Tiffany Adams, Tad Cullum, Cole and Cora Twombly, and Paul Grice, have been charged. The proposed highway naming serves as a public reminder of their lives and the need for justice.

This initiative reflects the community's desire to honor Butler and Kelley while raising awareness about the ongoing issues surrounding violence and lost lives.
