Tupelo Police arrest a man in connection with a kidnapping

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) - License Plate Cameras played a crucial role in helping Tupelo Police capture a kidnapping suspect. On Wednesday, March 26, at approximately 2 pm, one of the city's Flock Safety License Plate Recognition cameras detected a white 2015 Lexus E-S traveling east on McCullough Boulevard.
Tupelo officers were able to track the vehicle, which was reportedly speeding southbound on North Front Street. The situation escalated when the car crashed into an unattended vehicle on South Front Street near Troy Street.
Following the crash, the driver, identified as Izaya Kutschinski, fled the scene on foot. However, officers quickly apprehended him near Elizabeth Street.
Kutschinski was subsequently arrested and charged with Hit and Run and Driving with an Expired License. Furthermore, the Horn Lake Police Department has placed a hold on him, as he is a suspect in a separate kidnapping case in their jurisdiction.
