Man tased, arrested after fleeing from police in Missoula

A man, identified as 35-year-old Dave Fisher, was tased and arrested by police in Missoula on Thursday afternoon after fleeing from law enforcement. The incident began around noon when officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business on South Avenue, where the suspect attempted to steal a cash register.
The employee at the business successfully intervened, preventing the theft, but Fisher escaped the scene before police arrived. Shortly thereafter, officers received another report about a stolen bicycle in the vicinity, leading them to spot Fisher riding the bike on Kent Avenue.
Upon attempting to apprehend him, Fisher fled again, prompting a pursuit by the Missoula Police Department. Officers were able to deploy a less-lethal taser, allowing them to take Fisher into custody effectively.
Fisher faces several charges, including felony theft, obstructing a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He was subsequently booked into the Missoula jail.
Authorities commended the quick response of their officers and the cooperation of community members in resolving the situation swiftly, highlighting the importance of community involvement in law enforcement efforts.
