Homicide counts added as 17-year-old boy now charged with killing mother and stepfather

Nikita Casap, a 17-year-old from Waukesha, is now facing first-degree intentional homicide charges alongside additional counts stemming from the deaths of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer. This development came during a recent court appearance following the revelation of a new criminal complaint that includes nine felony charges, among them two counts of homicide and two counts of hiding a corpse.

The bodies of Tatiana Casap and Donald Mayer were discovered on February 28 in their home after Waukesha County Sheriff's deputies performed a wellness check. Subsequent investigations revealed that both individuals had been shot, with Tatiana suffering multiple gunshot wounds and Mayer shot in the head. Authorities reported that both had been deceased for approximately 17 days before their discovery, and their bodies had decomposed to the extent that visual identification was not possible.

Investigators linked Nikita to the crime scene through forensic evidence, including bullets matching a gun found in his possession when he was arrested in Kansas. Surveillance footage tracked him driving Mayer's car, which contained valuables and possible stolen property exceeding $10,000. Text messages sent during the time of the murders suggested an effort to mislead authorities about the parents' whereabouts.

Additionally, troubling insights into Casap’s mental state were presented in the complaint. A witness described disturbing interactions with him, including graphic images and references to violence against his parents. He allegedly communicated with individuals overseas about violent fantasies and escape plans, raising concerns about his psychological well-being.

Casap’s bail has been raised to $1 million as he remains in custody awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 9. The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department emphasized the importance of their investigation and encouraged the community to provide any relevant information regarding the case.
