Two in custody after shooting, police chase in Providence

Two individuals are in custody following a shooting and subsequent police chase in Providence on Thursday night. Police Chief Oscar Perez reported that officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving calls about shots fired near Shiloh Street and Hyacinth Street.
Fortunately, there were no reported shooting victims at the scene. Officers in the vicinity heard gunfire and witnessed a vehicle speeding away from the area.
Following the sighting, police initiated a brief pursuit. The driver and passenger eventually abandoned the vehicle in their attempt to escape on foot.
However, both suspects were quickly apprehended by law enforcement. In addition to the arrests, officers were able to recover a firearm linked to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather information related to the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the chase.
