Teenager arrested for involvement in Birmingham shooting that resulted in 1 death and 2 injuries
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a shooting incident earlier this month that resulted in one death and two injuries, including that of a juvenile. The arrest was made following a detailed investigation by the police.
On March 21, officers responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, where they found 20-year-old Dorian Jackson from Birmingham lying in a backyard at the 300 block of Iota Avenue. Jackson was pronounced dead after being taken to UAB Hospital. Two other victims, an adult female and a 12-year-old child, were transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.
The suspect was apprehended by the Crime Reduction Team at a residence in East Birmingham on Tuesday. Following the arrest, detectives presented the case information to the Jefferson County Magistrate's Office for further proceedings.
The 16-year-old suspect has been issued warrants for a series of serious charges, including Capital Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder, and charges related to discharging firearms into occupied structures and vehicles.
Charged as an adult, the suspect is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond. The investigation continues as the police work to gather more information about the incident.
