Fire breaks out after car crashes into home in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KKTV) - A startling incident unfolded early Thursday morning when a Fort Collins resident called 911 to report that a car had crashed into her living room. Shortly after, she saw flames erupting from the vehicle.
When the Poudre Fire Authority crews arrived on the scene, they found the front of the house engulfed in fire, with the car fully embedded inside. The firefighters quickly coordinated their efforts, battling the blaze from both sides of the home while others searched for anyone who might need assistance inside.
Investigations revealed that the car had jumped a curb, collided with a light pole, and crashed through a brick wall before coming to rest in the living room, where it partially obstructed the staircase. Fortunately, four individuals inside the home managed to escape by climbing over the vehicle as the fire ignited.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Crews noted that burn patterns and witness accounts suggest that the vehicle was likely the source of the flames.
The driver of the car has been booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of careless driving and driving under the influence, while both the driver and a passenger were transported to a hospital following the incident.
