Bloomington police investigating after human remains were found at dig site

Police in Bloomington are investigating the discovery of human remains found by a land-clearing crew in a wooded area on the north side of the city on Wednesday. The Bloomington Police Department received reports at approximately 2:45 p.m. about possible human remains located in the 1000 block of West Acuff Road.

Responding officers confirmed that the remains were indeed human. Following this confirmation, the Monroe County Coroner was called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

On Thursday, a forensic anthropology team from Indianapolis joined the efforts to recover the remains and assist in the investigation.

As of now, the identity of the deceased has not been established, and authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding this discovery.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to emerge as authorities gather more information.
