Fairbanks man stabs 2 by warming center off Cushman Street, police say

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU) - Two men were hospitalized early Thursday morning after being stabbed by a suspect who has since been charged with the incident. The Fairbanks Police Department responded to reports of a man threatening individuals at a warming center located on 6th Avenue near Cushman Street around 2 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers witnessed an altercation and noticed an injured man on the ground. They attempted to control the situation as two men began to walk away despite requests to stop. One of these men, identified as 28-year-old Nelson Anthony Gabriel Simon, appeared to be highly intoxicated. When detained, he was found with a large knife and blood on his hands and clothes.
While Simon was placed in a patrol car, officers turned their attention to the injured man, providing medical assistance until medics from the Fairbanks Fire Department arrived. Simultaneously, another victim arrived at the police station with stab wounds, later confirmed to have been injured earlier in the same incident.
Both victims described their attacker, matching Simon's appearance. Following further investigation, Simon was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery related to the stabbings.
