US babysitter finds man under bed after child reports 'monster'

A shocking incident occurred in Great Bend, Kansas, where a babysitter confronted an unexpected danger while trying to comfort a child at bedtime. As the babysitter attempted to reassure the child that there was no monster under the bed, she discovered a man hiding there instead. The 27-year-old suspect, previously known to live at the residence, was under a restraining order prohibiting him from visiting.
The situation escalated on Monday night when one of the children expressed fears of a monster lurking beneath the bed. In an effort to alleviate the child's fears, the babysitter leaned down to check, only to come face-to-face with the intruder. This shocking encounter sparked a struggle between the babysitter and the suspect, during which a child was unintentionally knocked over.
Following the alarming event, the intruder, identified as Martin Villalobos Junior, fled the scene. Law enforcement responded and apprehended him the next day in the same vicinity. The Barton County Sheriff's Office reported the ordeal and confirmed that the suspect had been hiding at the house despite the restraining order.
Authorities have charged Villalobos with several serious offenses, including kidnapping, burglary, battery, and child endangerment. He is currently being held in the Barton County Jail, with a bail set at $500,000.
This frightening incident serves as a reminder of the critical role that caregivers play in ensuring children's safety, as well as the importance of adhering to legal restrictions designed to protect individuals from potential threats.
