Maine State Police release hundreds of photos from Lewiston mass shooting investigation

LEWISTON (WGME) -- Maine State Police have made public hundreds of photographs collected during the investigation of the 2023 Lewiston mass shooting, a tragedy that resulted in 18 fatalities and 13 injuries. This release follows a public records request and aims to provide some insight into the aftermath of the incident.

The collection includes aerial views of the crime scenes, as well as detailed images of the shooter's vehicle, which was discovered abandoned at a Lisbon boat launch. Additionally, the photographs showcase high-powered firearms and ammunition that were located inside the car.

In total, around 800 images were released, representing only a small portion of the over 15,000 photographs taken by state police throughout their investigation. The images offered to the public are intended to provide relevant information while maintaining sensitivity surrounding the event.
