Man charged after fight in Market Basket parking lot in Portsmouth

In Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a dispute over a shopping cart in a Market Basket parking lot escalated into a serious incident leading to an arrest about a month later. The event occurred on February 27 when police were called to respond to reports of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple individuals engaged in a physical altercation over a shopping cart. One person sustained injuries and required hospitalization due to the violence of the confrontation.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified Michael Mbwana from Northwood, New Hampshire, as the individual responsible for the assault.
Mbwana voluntarily turned himself in to the police on Tuesday and was subsequently charged with second-degree assault.
After his arrest, he was taken to Rockingham County Jail, where he was later released on bail the following day.
