A Gainesville man has been arrested on methamphetamine trafficking charges after Hall County deputies discovered over two pounds of the drug during a traffic stop. Trevor Wade Southers, 24, was taken into custody on March 20, following a traffic stop for failing to maintain his lane at the intersection of Mundy Mill Road and Creekside Place.

During the stop, deputies found approximately 1,045 grams (2.3 pounds) of methamphetamine in the vehicle. Investigators from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) were called to the scene and confirmed that the drugs belonged to Southers, who was a passenger in the SUV. The estimated street value of the seized meth is around $78,200.

The investigation expanded beyond Hall County when SIU investigators uncovered information about more drugs potentially located at a residence in Madison County. This intelligence was shared with the Madison County Sheriff's Office, which conducted a related operation that resulted in the seizure of approximately four additional pounds of methamphetamine, several firearms, and cash, leading to one arrest.

Southers is facing serious charges, including trafficking methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. At this time, no mug shot of Southers has been released.

The developments highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region, with significant quantities of meth being targeted by investigations.
