SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) - Southington police attempted to stop a driver for a misuse plate violation on Wednesday night, but the situation escalated when the suspect crashed into a police cruiser. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Harrison Regan from Ansonia.

The incident began around 10:35 p.m. on Queen Street, where police tried to pull over Regan, who refused to stop. Authorities used their monitoring system to track his movement as he fled down Marion Avenue. Despite deploying stop sticks on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, Regan continued to evade capture, heading toward Wolcott.

Police eventually located Regan's white Acura sedan in a parking lot in Wolcott, but he fled once more. During this attempt to escape, he collided with a Southington police cruiser, causing damage. Regan then pulled into another parking lot, where an unknown passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers were able to apprehend Regan and remove him from the car, although they could not locate the passenger. His actions led to multiple charges, including interfering with an officer, second-degree reckless endangerment, and first-degree criminal mischief, among others.

In total, Regan faced several charges, including misuse of plates, improper tires, engaging in a police pursuit, and reckless driving, emphasizing the serious nature of the incident and his disregard for law enforcement.
