PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) -- Providence police have arrested two suspects involved in a shots-fired incident that took place Thursday night at the intersection of Shiloh Street and Hyacinth Street. The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Orlando Torres and 28-year-old Anthony Reed.

Torres faces charges for possession of a firearm without a license and resisting arrest. Reed is charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit, and failing to stop after causing damage to a vehicle.

The incident unfolded around 6:30 p.m. when police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a vehicle leaving the area at high speed.

Following a brief pursuit, both the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but they were quickly apprehended by the police. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during the incident.

Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez praised the swift and decisive actions of the Task Force and Patrol division officers who responded effectively to the situation.
