Nike, Yeezy sneakers stolen from police locker room, officer charged

Several pairs of high-value Nike and Yeezy sneakers were reported stolen from the locker room of the Detroit Police Department's 3rd Precinct over several months, leading to charges against one officer. The thefts occurred repeatedly between September and January, with the sneakers often left unattended outside the lockers.
To investigate the situation, authorities placed a pair of shoes with a tracking device in the locker room. This tactic led them to the home of Officer James Clark Davis III, where a search warrant revealed the missing footwear. The officer reportedly kept the stolen items in his possession at his residence.
As a result of the investigation, Davis has resigned from the police department and faces multiple charges. He is being charged with three counts of larceny in a building, as well as one count of receiving and concealing stolen property valued between $200 and $1,000.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced the charges, and Davis was arraigned on Thursday in 36th District Court. During the arraignment, he was granted a personal recognizance bond set at $25,000.
Davis is scheduled to return to court for further proceedings on April 8.
