Police Officer Bitten, Among 3 Taken to Hospital in Kasson Fight

A fight involving four individuals broke out late Friday night in Kasson, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Police Chief Joshua Hanson reported that officers arrived at the scene on Central Avenue shortly after 11:15 p.m. to find the situation escalating. During the altercation, one officer suffered a minor injury when he was bitten by a dog while attempting to control the scene.
Following the incident, emergency medical personnel treated additional injuries, transporting two men to the hospital for further care. One of those hospitalized was identified as 32-year-old Randy Marin, the suspect in the case now facing a felony assault charge. The other hospitalized man is listed as the victim, who had arrived at Marin's residence following an earlier dispute.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Dodge County Court, the conflict escalated to violence when Marin struck the victim with frying pans. Both the victim and Marin received treatment for their injuries before being released from the hospital.
The officer injured by the dog was also treated and released shortly after the incident. Chief Hanson confirmed that both the suspect and the officer have since been released from medical care.
Currently, Marin remains in custody as the investigation continues, highlighting the serious nature of the charges stemming from the late-night altercation.
