AMES, Iowa (KCCI) -- Stanley Hardin continues to experience profound grief as he seeks justice for his son, 23-year-old Stashaun Brown, who was fatally shot during a shooting incident at the Elks Lodge in Ames in October 2021. The tragic event unfolded when groups exchanged gunfire at a private gathering.

Hardin, alongside Stashaun's grandmother, Raynelle Honeycutt-Wheels, expressed their deep sense of loss and emphasized that Stashaun, though not perfect, did not deserve such a violent fate. They described him as a typical young man in his 20s, deserving of a chance at life.

The family has been frustrated by the lack of progress in the investigation, noting that despite numerous discussions with Ames police, there have been no arrests or substantial new evidence in the case. This ongoing inaction weighs heavily on them as they await answers.

To spur movement in the investigation, a Crime Stoppers reward of $1,000 has been offered, but the family believes a more significant amount is necessary to encourage someone to come forward with information. They remain hopeful that an increased reward could lead to breakthroughs in the case.

As they continue their fight for justice, Hardin and Honeycutt-Wheels hold onto the hope that they will find closure and accountability for Stashaun’s untimely death. They are determined to honor his memory and seek the justice he deserves.
