Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Rutherford County

An officer-involved shooting took place in Rutherford County on March 27, following reports of an individual firing at vehicles. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) reported that officers responded to the scene, where they instructed the suspect to drop their weapon.

When the suspect refused to comply with the deputy's commands, a shootout ensued, resulting in injuries to the suspect. Emergency medical services rushed the suspect to a local trauma center for treatment following the incident.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) is currently handling the investigation, while RCSO detectives are looking into the reports concerning the damaged vehicles.
