Suspects in Providence shots fired incident appear in court | ABC6

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) -- Two men were arrested following a shots fired incident in Providence on Thursday night, marking a significant police response to the situation. The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Orlando Torres and 28-year-old Anthony Reed, appeared in court the following day.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Shiloh Street and Hyacinth Street. Torres faces charges for possession of a firearm without a license and resisting arrest, while Reed is charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm, leading police on a high-speed pursuit, and failing to stop after causing vehicle damage.
Both suspects' cases have been forwarded to Providence Superior Court, where the judge noted that Torres is already out on bail for multiple previous firearm-related charges.
Police were alerted to the shots fired and witnessed the suspects' vehicle fleeing the scene. After a brief pursuit, the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot before being apprehended by authorities.
Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez praised the swift actions of the Task Force officers and the Patrol division in handling the incident, which fortunately resulted in no injuries.
