Man arrested following Sioux Falls parking garage stabbing

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A man was arrested early Friday morning on charges of vehicular battery and aggravated assault following a violent incident in a downtown parking garage. The altercation began after two men were asked to leave a bar due to disruptive behavior.
After leaving the first bar, the two men attempted to enter another establishment but were denied service. Frustrated, one of them threw a barstool at the bartender before they left and headed to a nearby parking garage. There, they encountered a group associated with their earlier troubles, leading to an argument and subsequent fight.
During the confrontation, 21-year-old Sean Gottschalk from Brandon stabbed one of the men in the chest before fleeing to his vehicle. In a shocking turn of events, he then drove his car into the two men, exacerbating the situation.
Gottschalk later contacted the police and was taken into custody. He has been charged with two counts of vehicular battery and aggravated assault related to the incident.
The victim of the stabbing was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the second man suffered only minor injuries. The incident underscores the dangers of escalating confrontations in public spaces.
