A man is facing renewed charges for stalking Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife, Plymouth City Commissioner Alanna Maguire. Christopher Dean Baldwin, 42, was initially charged with two counts of misdemeanor stalking in March 2024 after police responded to an incident at Nessel and Maguire's home where he allegedly rang the doorbell and sat on their porch.

Following the March incident, Baldwin was arrested but was subsequently found incompetent to stand trial, leading to the dismissal of his initial charges. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, the dismissal was based on the legal requirement that if he remained incompetent for four months, the case must be paused until he regains competency. Baldwin has since been placed under the jurisdiction of the Wayne County Third Circuit Court Probate Division.

Despite the previous dismissal, Baldwin is now facing new charges related to aggravated stalking. On February 27, 2025, he allegedly misused Nessel and Maguire’s personal information to obtain court documents without their consent, resulting in the new charges.

Baldwin was arraigned on these additional charges in late March, with a set bond of $200,000 in cash or surety. Should he be released, he is required to wear a GPS tether to monitor his whereabouts.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy expressed concern over Baldwin's actions, asserting that continued harassment of public officials and their families constitutes serious criminal behavior that must be addressed. Baldwin is slated to appear in court for a probable cause conference on April 4 and a preliminary examination on April 11.
