Arrest made in Jim Massey robbery and assault case

A Montgomery man, Zedekiah Sykes, 58, has been arrested and charged with federal offenses related to the violent assault and robbery of businessman Jim Massey III. The arrest occurred on March 26, following a violent robbery that took place on March 10 at Massey’s business, Jim Massey's Cleaners.
During the incident, four men entered the cleaners, where they assaulted Massey, tied him up, and threatened him with a firearm. They demanded access to the safe, which they subsequently emptied before fleeing the scene in a vehicle stolen from the business, leaving Massey injured and restrained.
Sykes is facing serious charges, including armed robbery, carjacking, and the unlawful brandishing of a firearm during a violent crime. His first court appearance is scheduled for Friday afternoon, marking an important step in this ongoing legal process.
If found guilty of all charges, Sykes could face a hefty prison sentence ranging from seven years to life.
