Man Sentenced To 7 Years Dor High-Speed Crash That Killed Lusby Mother Of Four - The BayNet

LEONARDTOWN, Md. - Michael Anthony Carlucci, 50, of Waldorf, Maryland, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a multi-vehicle high-speed crash that resulted in the death of 33-year-old Jaleisa Wilcox, a mother of four, and injured another person. The sentencing was announced by State's Attorney Jaymi Sterling.

During the hearing, the prosecution sought the maximum penalty of ten years, even though Maryland sentencing guidelines suggested a range of just three months to four years. Ultimately, Carlucci received a ten-year sentence, with seven years to be served in prison. After his release, he will face five years of supervised probation and will be prohibited from driving until further court orders.

State's Attorney Jaymi Sterling emphasized the tragic consequences of reckless driving, highlighting the profound impact on Wilcox's family and the importance of responsible behavior behind the wheel. "Every time a driver gets behind the wheel, they make choices that affect not just their own fate, but also the lives of everyone around them," she stated.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State's Attorney Michael McGraw on behalf of St. Mary's County residents, with Corporal Jason Smith from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office serving as the lead investigator.
