Sioux Falls man arrested for stealing mail van

A Sioux Falls man, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Ducey, was arrested on Thursday after allegedly stealing a mail van. The incident began when a postal worker parked the van on 5th Avenue and Carter Place to retrieve items from inside.
While the postal worker was occupied, Ducey approached her and demanded the keys to the vehicle. He then took off in the mail van, leading to a chaotic series of events. At one point, he drove over some bushes located in the 500 block of North Duluth.
Ducey’s spree didn’t end there; he attempted to enter another vehicle at the intersection of 5th and Minnesota. However, the 17-year-old driver managed to lock the door before Ducey could pull them out.
Law enforcement later identified Ducey as the suspect in the theft and subsequent incidents. He was arrested and faces charges of Grand Theft and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.
This incident highlights concerns regarding vehicle theft and the dangers posed to individuals during such unpredictable encounters.
