DA: Manslaughter charges for West Springfield man in deaths of 3 roadside workers

A West Springfield man is facing serious charges after allegedly hitting three roadside workers with his SUV on Interstate 91 early Friday morning. Bilal Griffith, 29, was driving a 2021 Jeep Cherokee when he exited at 10A at a high rate of speed and struck the workers.
The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m., and the three victims were identified as Igor Costa from Marlborough, Ryan Almeida from Brockton, and Raul Bohorquez, also from Brockton. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Griffith reportedly fled the scene but has since been charged with three counts of manslaughter and additional charges, as announced by Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni during a press conference later that day.
The deaths of these workers highlight the ongoing dangers faced by individuals working on highways. The authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to gather more details.
Griffith's case has attracted significant attention, and many are awaiting further legal proceedings as the community mourns the loss of the roadside workers.
