WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) - Jared W. Harvey, a 44-year-old from Beaver, WV, was sentenced on March 26, 2025, to a total of one to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Attempt to Commit a Felony. The sentences will run consecutively, following his guilty plea on February 4, 2025.

The charges stemmed from an incident on May 25, 2024, when Sergeant Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department responded to a breaking and entering report at the Bluestone Coal K2 Coal Preparation Plant. During the investigation, authorities uncovered an attempted theft along with substantial property damage. Harvey was apprehended in a vehicle that fled the scene and later confessed to his role in the crime.

Wyoming County Prosecutor Gregory Bishop emphasized the broader implications of commercial theft, stating that it affects not just property loss but also the financial stability of businesses, including salaries and production. He affirmed the county's commitment to diligently prosecuting such offenses.

The prosecution was handled by Derek Laxton, the Assistant Prosecutor for Wyoming County, during a court session presided over by Honorable Judge Josh Miller. The collaborative efforts of the law enforcement team were crucial in securing the conviction.

Bishop expressed gratitude toward the entire prosecutor's office, particularly thanking Sergeants Tyler Sizemore and Matthew Lane for their thorough investigation, which played a pivotal role in achieving justice in this case.
