MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) -- On March 27, 2025, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) launched an investigation into theft at the Greer's Cash Saver in Semmes. The inquiry focused on several employees suspected of being involved in the theft of meat products from the store's meat department.

Interviews with employees revealed a scheme in which they, along with friends and family, were purchasing meat items, including chicken, ground beef, bacon, and steaks, at significantly discounted prices. It was discovered that the meat department manager had been creating and attaching fraudulent price tags to these products, marking them much lower than their actual cost.

As a result of the investigation, MCSO has arrested four individuals: Ernest Ray Gray, Roand Alphonse Taylor, Jo Ann Mosley, and Latonya Harris, all charged with Organized Retail Theft. The total loss incurred by the grocery store chain currently exceeds $2,700.

The investigation is still ongoing, as authorities seek to gather more information regarding the extent of the theft ring. MCSO encourages anyone with relevant information to reach out to them directly.

For those wishing to provide information anonymously, MCSO has made provisions for secure reporting.
