CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Division of Police Second District is taking action to combat a rise in car break-ins across three neighborhoods, resulting in three arrests and two recovered vehicles within a two-week span. The targeted areas include Old Brooklyn, Detroit Shoreway, and Ohio City, where police have ramped up their efforts to enhance community safety.

To address the surge in vehicle break-ins, police have employed crime analysis to pinpoint high-crime areas and deployed strategic responses. This includes increased foot and vehicle patrols, as well as covert investigations aimed at deterring criminal activity in these neighborhoods.

In a notable incident on March 15, an officer stationed at the Westside Market apprehended a suspect in the act of breaking into a vehicle. The arrestee was found in possession of illegal drugs and tools commonly used for committing crimes.

Further demonstrating their proactive approach, on March 18, detectives utilized Flock cameras to track a stolen car. This vehicle was linked to a juvenile suspect who had recently removed their ankle monitor and was wanted on an active warrant, leading to the juvenile's subsequent arrest.

The police also made another significant arrest on March 26 at a recognized hot spot located at the intersection of West 65th Street and Wakefield Avenue. These concerted efforts reflect the division's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Cleveland's residents.
