Clovis police: Teen arrested for hitting girl, threatening shooting

CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - A teenager has been arrested by the Clovis Police Department for aggravated assault following an incident in which he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend. The altercation took place around 11:37 p.m. on March 27, when officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Axtell Street.
According to the 17-year-old girl, her ex-boyfriend entered her home uninvited and began arguing with her about the presence of other men around their child. During the heated exchange, she asserts that he reached for a gun concealed in his waistband, subsequently brandishing it despite her pleas not to point it at her or their baby.
The situation escalated with the young man reportedly physically assaulting her several times until her mother intervened, demanding he leave the premises. The mother recounted that the suspect threatened to shoot at the police if she made a call, after which he exited the home. Shortly thereafter, both women claimed to have heard a gunshot.
Local law enforcement quickly located the suspect and took him into custody. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated burglary, aggravated battery against a household member, abandonment or abuse of a child, shooting at an occupied dwelling, and unlawful possession of a handgun.
The teenager is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility as the police continue their investigation into the incident.
