Police respond to sword attack on Devondale Court, victim in critical condition

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- On Thursday morning around 9:15, High Point Police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence on Devondale Court.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 62-year-old man suffering from severe cuts inflicted by a sword. Emergency medical services from Guilford County transported him to a local hospital, where he is currently in critical condition. His identity has not yet been disclosed.

Authorities have arrested 29-year-old Connor J. Johnson on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, resulting in serious injury.

Johnson is currently being held without bond at the Guilford County Jail in High Point. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and additional details are expected to emerge as the case develops.
