Bowling Green man charged with theft of vehicle, resisting arrest - WNKY News 40 Television

A Bowling Green man, identified as 30-year-old Cody Green, is facing multiple charges, including theft of a vehicle. The Bowling Green Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from a business located at 2144 Russellville Road on Thursday. The vehicle in question was a black Dodge Challenger that had been taken from the lot earlier that day.
Upon investigation, authorities reviewed security footage which showed Green exiting a different vehicle and subsequently driving away in the stolen Challenger. Police located the abandoned vehicle left behind by Green and discovered a wallet with several cards that identified him as the owner. This evidence led them to further pursue Green.
While on the scene, officers spotted the Challenger traveling north toward U.S. 31-W Bypass and initiated a traffic stop. When approached, Green reportedly failed to comply with numerous commands to exit the vehicle, leading officers to forcibly remove him from the car. Despite their efforts, Green continued to resist arrest.
During their interaction, Green claimed that he did not steal the vehicle, alleging that an employee of Car Nation had traded him the Challenger for a Volkswagen Passat. However, his explanation did not deter law enforcement from proceeding with the charges.
Green was subsequently transported to the Warren County Detention Center, where he faces charges that include theft by unlawful taking or disposition of an auto valued between $1,000 and $10,000, resisting arrest, and failure to maintain required insurance, among others. In addition to these charges, police served him with four outstanding warrants.
