2 arrested after separate Iberville Parish drug trafficking ring investigations

Two individuals have been arrested in Iberville Parish following investigations into separate drug distribution operations allegedly supplying illegal substances to the area. Catina Vaughn, 51, of St. Gabriel, and Juan Banks, 40, a Baton Rouge resident originally from Plaquemine, face multiple drug-related charges. Both have extensive criminal backgrounds, with Banks currently on felony probation.
Vaughn’s arrest occurred on March 26 during a narcotics investigation on Bayou Paul Road, where agents were examining methamphetamine distribution in St. Gabriel. Deputies discovered methamphetamine packaged for sale and various narcotics paraphernalia at her residence, leading to her charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, Banks was apprehended on March 27 as part of an ongoing investigation into the Banks Drug Trafficking Organization, known for distributing significant amounts of illegal drugs in the region. Several of Banks’ associates have already been arrested in connection with this operation. A traffic stop on Banks resulted in the confiscation of approximately 4 pounds and 7 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, valued at around $80,000.
He is now facing a range of charges, including principal to distribute crack cocaine, violation of a drug-free zone, expired vehicle registration, no insurance, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Vaughn and Banks are currently held at the Iberville Parish Jail as they await further legal action.
Sheriff Brett Stassi emphasized that these arrests have disrupted major drug trafficking routes in the area, preventing illegal substances from entering the community. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and reiterated the commitment to combat drug distribution at all levels. The investigations are ongoing, and authorities encourage anyone with information on drug activity to contact the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotic Division.
