Early Morning Pursuit Ends In Arrest: Suspect With Gun Threatens Victim In La Plata - The BayNet

LA PLATA, Md. - In the early hours of March 28, 2025, officers responded to a call about a person threatening to kill the caller while armed with a handgun. As law enforcement approached the scene, a silver Hyundai Tucson fled, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit.
The chase concluded when the fleeing vehicle struck stop sticks at the intersection of Route 301 and Route 5, allowing officers to apprehend the suspect. During the arrest, officers recovered a silver 9mm handgun with its serial number obliterated, as well as a black C11 BB gun.
Following the arrest, the vehicle was towed, pending a search warrant, while the suspect was transported to the Charles County Detention Center for processing.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was prohibited from possessing firearms, raising concerns over the incident and the potential danger posed to the community. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation and subsequent pursuit.
