Jay man accused of sexually assaulting a girl under age 16

A Jay man, Brandon J. Wilson, 19, has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 last year, according to an affidavit filed by state police Det. Cpl. Reid Bond in Farmington Unified Court. Wilson was arrested on a gross sexual assault charge, with a second sexual assault charge added after review by the Franklin County District Attorney's Office. Each charge could potentially lead to a maximum of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
Following his arrest, Wilson was held on $20,000 cash bail at the Franklin County Detention Center. Before his court appearance, bail was set at $5,000 cash or $2,500 with a supervised release agreement. Wilson, who had recently been employed as a corrections officer at the detention center, was terminated the same day he was arrested and later transferred to Somerset County Jail.
The allegations include claims that Wilson used a Taser on the girl multiple times. In a police interview, he initially denied the assault but later admitted to having sex with her in the woods after participating in a polygraph test, according to the affidavit.
Wilson did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance, as his case has not yet been presented to a grand jury for indictment. An indictment is not a determination of guilt but indicates sufficient evidence to move forward with a trial.
As conditions of his release, Wilson is prohibited from possessing any weapons, including Tasers, and is banned from contacting any girls under the age of 16.
