Undocumented immigrant arrested in Marietta woman's death facing more charges

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 21-year-old undocumented immigrant from Honduras, Hector David Sagastume Rivas, is facing additional serious charges in connection with the death of Camilia Williams, a 52-year-old woman from Marietta. According to Cobb County Superior Court records, Rivas is now charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, and necrophilia, alongside his initial charges of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.
Camilia Williams was found deceased on March 13 near Pat Mell Road. Following an investigation, arrest warrants revealed that Rivas allegedly choked Williams and applied his full body weight on her neck, leading to her death.
Rivas has been in the United States since March 2021, as reported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case has drawn considerable attention, and local officials have commented on the implications of his undocumented status.
Williams, originally from Louisiana, was a mother to five children and was the only family member residing in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Her family has expressed their grief over her tragic loss.
This case continues to develop, with Rivas now facing an even broader scope of charges as the legal proceedings unfold in Cobb County.
