CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - It's been 12 years since Christine Malone was found murdered in Cleveland, and her daughters, Angelique Malone and Shana Johnson, continue to seek answers. On March 28, 2013, Christine’s body was discovered in a vacant lot on East 93rd Street, having been brutally beaten and strangled. The news hit her family hard, as Shana recalls finding out about their mother's death from her sister.

Christine Malone, a mother of eight, had been missing for 11 days before her body was found. The uncertainty surrounding her death haunts her daughters. "We don’t know what happened? Why it happened? Why did it have to be her?" Johnson asked poignantly, recalling how their mother was a loving figure who didn't deserve such a fate. The family has been left with unanswered questions, particularly distressing for Angelique, who heard about a strange man seen with her mother shortly before her disappearance.

Today, Christine would have been a grandmother to 19 children, but she only had the chance to meet a few of them. Shana feels a deep sense of guilt, believing she failed to protect her mother. The emotional toll is exacerbated by concerns for safety, as three other women were also murdered nearby during a five-month period in late 2012 and early 2013, highlighting a grim pattern in the area.

With the killer still on the loose, both sisters stress the need for more resources dedicated to cold cases and solving these murders. Johnson emphasizes the danger posed to the community, noting that children and women still walk the streets, unaware of the lurking threat. Angelique echoes this sentiment, insisting that raising awareness is crucial in keeping their mother's case alive and ensuring justice is served.

Cleveland Police continue to seek leads in Christine's case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The daughters remain resolute, holding onto hope that justice will be achieved. "I’m not going to sit right till they find out who killed my mother," Johnson said. The family continues to fight for answers, determined to keep memories of Christine alive while advocating for the safety of their community.
