MPD's Operation Azalea Trail nets drugs, guns, 18 arrests

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile Police Department concluded a three-month initiative dubbed Operation Azalea Trail, resulting in significant drug-related seizures and 18 arrests. The operation was executed by the Narcotics and Vice Unit alongside the Canine Detail, addressing community concerns over drug sales in the Azalea Road corridor.
As part of the operation, law enforcement seized an array of items, including 10 firearms and $6,673 in cash. Additionally, authorities confiscated substantial quantities of drugs, comprising 750 grams of marijuana, over 10 grams of cocaine, 370 grams of synthetic marijuana, and 17 grams of psilocybin.
The arrests made during Operation Azalea Trail encompassed individuals facing various charges related to drug offenses. However, the investigation is ongoing, and five individuals remain at large, with authorities actively seeking their apprehension.
Mobile Police emphasized the importance of community collaboration in addressing drug-related activities and local safety concerns. This operation stands as a testament to their commitment to effectively combating drug-related crime in the area.
