Two mothers in Shreveport, Louisiana, are facing serious allegations of neglect and abuse involving their children in separate incidents. The first case involved Nicole Frederick, who was charged with neglect after her 10-year-old son reported her absence, stating she had left for errands at 5 p.m. and not returned home. Officers attempted to contact Frederick using the phone information she had left, but were unsuccessful. Further inquiries revealed that the child was not enrolled in school, prompting the involvement of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

In another case, on March 9, Shreveport police responded to reports concerning a 15-year-old juvenile who was later discovered at a local hospital. While there, the teen disclosed shocking allegations of physical abuse by his foster mother, Lisa Pittman, who is 53 years old. The minor described inhumane living conditions, including being made to sleep on a dog mat or yoga mat, and being denied basic restroom access, which forced him to use a mop bucket outside.

In light of these allegations, the hospital admitted the juvenile for his safety. The DCFS conducted an investigation and subsequently removed three more foster children from Pittman's home for their protection. During forensic interviews, these children supported the claims of neglect and abuse made by their peer, highlighting the deplorable conditions they faced.

Pittman was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of cruelty to a juvenile due to the allegations substantiated by the investigations. The situation has raised significant concerns regarding the welfare of children in foster care and the responsibility of caregivers.

Both cases continue to be under investigation, as authorities work to ensure the safety of the children involved and address the serious issues of neglect and abuse reported in these households. The community is left to grapple with the troubling nature of these incidents.
