BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham Police continue their search for the suspect in a double homicide that occurred in 2023. Families of the victims, Cardarrius Bryant and Deforest Kines Jr., are still seeking closure nearly two years after their tragic deaths.

The two men were discovered shot in a vehicle on Zinnia Lane on July 13, 2023. In response to the ongoing investigation, the reward for information leading to an arrest has been increased. Bob Copus from Crime Stoppers reported that the family of Cadarrius Bryant has contributed an additional $5,000 to the reward, which, combined with the existing $5,000 from Crime Stoppers, raises the total to $10,000.

Despite receiving some tips recently, Crime Stoppers emphasized the need for greater community involvement in addressing and solving such crimes. Copus shared insights from a conversation with Cadarrius Bryant's mother, who expressed her enduring pain and desire for justice almost two years after her son's death.

The quest for answers continues as families await accountability and closure for this devastating incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the killings of Kines and Bryant to come forward.
