2 teens went on burglary spree in North Country, ending with crashing stolen car, troopers say

Lowville, N.Y. -- Two teenagers, aged 13 and 14, were arrested following a series of crimes involving theft from unlocked cars and a storage unit break-in. State Police reported that the incidents occurred over a three-day period from March 17 to March 19 in Lewis County.
The teens are accused of stealing two handguns and various items from unlocked vehicles in the Port Leyden and Lyons Falls regions. Additionally, they broke into several storage units at Shue Box Storage on State Route 12 in Port Leyden, taking more items.
Their crime spree culminated in a rollover crash on State Route 12 in Martinsburg after they allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence in Port Leyden. The youngsters fled the scene before authorities arrived, complicating the investigation.
In response to their actions, both teens received appearance tickets for family court, indicating that they will face legal proceedings appropriate for their age.
The identities of the minors have not been released, following standard protocol in cases involving juvenile offenders.
