Authorities in Butte La Rose, Louisiana, have arrested 61-year-old Paul Baudoin from Breaux Bridge, charging him with manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of 45-year-old Jesse Cormier, also from Breaux Bridge. The incident occurred just before midnight on March 27 at a local bar known as *The Butte Bar*.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call around 11:48 p.m. and found Cormier dead from a gunshot wound. Baudoin was taken into custody on March 28 and is currently being held at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center without bond as the investigation continues.

Residents have expressed shock over the violent incident, with local Pamela Severio noting that the two men had a previous altercation. She highlighted the role alcohol may have played in the situation, remarking on the rarity of such violence in their tight-knit community. "It’s a tragedy that has affected all of us," she stated.

Severio emphasized the importance of community support during this difficult time, saying, "This is about coming together, supporting each other, and making sure our people feel safe." The community is rallying behind both families impacted by the tragedy.

Authorities are seeking any additional information regarding the incident and encourage anyone with leads to contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-394-3071. Further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
