A Mobile County jury has convicted James David Wilson IV of Whistler for capital murder following a shooting in January 2021 that resulted in the deaths of two men. The jury deliberated into the evening before reaching their verdict.

The violent incident occurred at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, St. Stephens Road, and Craft Highway in the Toulminville community. During the altercation, Wilson sustained injuries while both victims, Camdon Jackson and Van Kennedy, lost their lives.

Wilson's defense team argued that he acted in self-defense, claiming the victims initiated the violence. However, the jury did not find these arguments persuasive.

As a result of the conviction, the judge imposed a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. This marks a significant legal outcome for Wilson, who has a prior conviction for a double murder.

In fact, this is the second time Wilson has faced convictions for double homicide; he previously served five years for a fatal shooting in 2006.
