OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) -- The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office has announced the arrest of Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jarquez Evans on charges of sexual assault. This comes after an incident involving Evans and a woman he stopped for a traffic violation earlier this year.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant on Friday, with Evans facing charges of first-degree rape and forcible oral sodomy. The incident allegedly occurred when Evans pulled the woman over at Southeast 29th and South High Avenue for driving under suspension and without insurance.

The victim reported that Evans gave her the option to follow him or face arrest. After she followed him to Southeast 31st and High, Evans allegedly entered her car and later instructed her to perform sexual acts, during which he assaulted her before returning to his patrol vehicle without issuing any citations.

Following the incident, the victim reported the sexual assault to the Oklahoma City Police Department, where evidence was collected before the case was transferred to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Criminal Investigations Section.

Evans was arrested on Friday and is currently held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
