15-year-old boy shot as large crowd of teens seen in Streeterville: Chicago police

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago on Friday night, where large groups of teenagers were congregating. The incident occurred just after 9:40 p.m. in the 400-block of North City Front Plaza Drive, as police on patrol observed a crowd of teens fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the boy on the ground with a graze wound to his leg. He was quickly transported to Lurie Children's Hospital and is currently reported to be in good condition. No arrests have been made, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
Witnesses reported seeing large crowds of teenagers in the area leading up to the event, which took place during the final weekend of spring break for local students. This shooting follows a recent town hall meeting aimed at addressing safety and gun violence concerns in the neighborhood.
Earlier this month, a tourist was shot near an AMC theater in Streeterville, although she was not the intended target. The recent incidents have raised alarms in the community regarding public safety.
In response to these events, 2nd Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins is set to propose a change to the city's curfew, suggesting an 8 p.m. cutoff for minors in the Central Business District unless accompanied by an adult.
