Rapper Young Scooter reported dead in Atlanta

ATLANTA -- Rapper Young Scooter, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey, was reported dead on Friday night at the age of 39. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed his death occurred after an incident in Atlanta. Other news outlets also reported the tragic news shortly after it was announced.
According to Lt. Andrew Smith, an APD homicide commander, officers responded to a dispute involving a weapon. There were initial reports of shots fired and a woman being dragged back inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door, but a male individual opened it briefly before shutting it again.
APD established a perimeter around the scene, at which point two males fled from the house. One returned indoors while another attempted to escape by jumping two fences and subsequently sustained an injury to his leg, which contributed to his subsequent hospitalization and death. Smith clarified that the injury was not inflicted by the officers on scene but occurred during the male's escape.
While the medical examiner's office officially identified Bailey as the deceased, details surrounding the circumstances remain unclear, including the status of the woman mentioned in the 911 call. Investigators have not been able to locate her, with Smith noting that this aspect is still part of the ongoing investigation.
Bailey, originally from South Carolina, made a significant impact on the Atlanta music scene, collaborating with numerous artists like Future and Young Thug. He was best known for his hit "Columbia," featuring Rick Ross, and his acclaimed mixtape "Street Lottery." The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
