Teen Boy Injured in Shooting Amid Large Teenage Gathering in Streeterville, Police Report - Internewscast Journal

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 15-year-old boy was shot in the Streeterville neighborhood Friday night as large groups of teenagers gathered in the area. The shooting occurred shortly after 9:40 p.m. in the 400-block of North City Front Plaza Drive, where police on patrol observed numerous teens fleeing from the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found the injured teen on the ground with a graze wound to his leg. He was promptly taken to Lurie Children's Hospital, where he is reported to be in good condition. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Witnesses reported seeing large crowds of teenagers hanging out in the area during the last weekend of spring break for Chicago students before the incident unfolded. Just days prior, community members had convened in a town hall meeting to address concerns regarding safety and gun violence, especially following a recent shooting involving a tourist near the AMC theater.

In light of these events, 2nd Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins plans to propose a new curfew for minors in the Central Business District, set at 8 p.m. for those unaccompanied by an adult.
