Frederick man arrested for possession of child pornography after anonymous tip

A Frederick man has been arrested on child pornography-related charges, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Christopher Aviles was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant at his residence on Hames Court as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession of child pornography.
The investigation commenced on February 13, 2025, after a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children highlighted concerns regarding child sexual abuse material. This led detectives to serve a warrant on a related social media platform, where they discovered three files containing such material.
Subsequently, Aviles faced three counts of possession of child pornography. Notably, he is already registered as a Tier 1 Sex Offender in Frederick County. This prior designation raises serious concerns about recidivism and community safety.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, suggesting that further charges may be forthcoming as they gather more evidence. In light of the seriousness of these allegations, law enforcement encourages anyone with additional information to come forward.
Anyone with knowledge related to this case is urged to contact Detective Staub at 301-600-3679 to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
