27-year-old shot and killed in Atlanta's Lakewood Heights neighborhood

ATLANTA -- A 27-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday night in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Early Saturday, police revealed that they found the victim at a residence on Lakewood Ave. with apparent gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders transported the man to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries. The incident has prompted an active investigation by the Homicide Unit to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

While details are still emerging, police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing. They have not disclosed any connections to other incidents that occurred nearby.

Interestingly, the shooting site is located just over a half-mile from a separate incident involving rapper Young Scooter, who reportedly ran from a home and sustained a leg injury on the same night.

Police have not suggested any links between the two events, but both incidents are currently under investigation as they work to piece together the details.
